Inside our Wedding Venue

Hey guys! Remember a few months ago when we were looking for a wedding venue and we gave you a review of all the great wedding venues in Charleston that we looked at? Well, we never actually announced which one we chose. The answer is Cottage on the Creek. It's a gorgeous wedding venue with the most amazing views of Shem Creek, marsh, the Ravenel Bridge and so much more.

We want our guests to have a "Charleston experience" and the Cottage on the Creek does just that. The venue will obviously look completely different when it's filled with all of our decor and guests, but for now, we wanted to share with you some photos of the venue while it's empty to get an inside look and what we're working with!

The exterior of the venue is really pretty and looks just like a cottage. It's beautiful, but you have no idea what's on the inside or behind it until you go around the back. We'll go through the venue in the order of events on the day off. So, let's start with the ceremony.

Cottage on the Creek has a great ceremony space out on the deck along the creek, which gives you a real Charleston feel. The tent is permanent, so we don't have to worry about renting one. The venue includes up to 150 padded white chairs that we will line up under the tent. I am hoping that we will face the gazebo and have some sort of cross or arch for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, everyone will shift further down the deck for the cocktail hour. We'll probably do some cocktail tables in the open space (they can move them there after the ceremony, so they aren't in the background of all of our wedding pictures), and the bar will be under the gazebo. This will be a great place for everyone to have some drinks and appetizers and watch the dolphins swim through Shem Creek.

Let's walk up the stairs to where the reception will be. The interior of Cottage on the Creek is newly renovated and the floors and exposed beams make this place look great. There's also a mezzanine above the main level that looks down and that's where the gorgeous views really are.

This is not our floor plan - it's just how the table and chairs were set up the day that we toured.

Finally, the most incredible part of our venue is the crow's nest on the roof. Check out the insane view we have from up there!

We can't wait now to have our wedding at Cottage on the Creek. Our venue is absolutely perfect and we couldn't be happier. Now, we have to work on the layout of tables and entertainment. It's going to be a tight fit, but we'll work through that puzzle.

We can't wait to see it decorated!
