Simple Candy Corn Candle Holder Vase Idea

Want to make a fun, fall-inspired table centerpiece or decor? Here’s how to make a DIY Candy Corn Vase Candle Holder!

Decorating for Halloween is so fun to me because you can be silly and use colors and accents you would never otherwise use.

One color I never decorate with is orange. But, at Halloween, it just makes sense.

When creating a scene to go on top of our buffet table in our dining area, I wanted something with a bit of color.

Well, it doesn't get more Halloween-colored than candy corn!

If you loved my Candy Corn Vase Centerpiece, then you’ll definitely want to try this super easy project.

Will the Candy Corn Attract Bugs?

One concern with using real candy corn in a craft project is that it could attract bugs, especially if you plan to keep it around for a while. But don’t worry!

Here are a few tips to keep those critters at bay:

  • Use Sealed Candy Corn: You could place the candy corn in small clear plastic bags before adding them between the vases. This way, the look stays the same, but the candy corn stays bug-free.
  • Opt for Faux Candy Corn: If you're worried about potential bugs, consider using decorative faux candy corn, which you can find at most craft stores.
  • Keep It Indoors: Display your project inside to minimize exposure to insects, as leaving it outside could attract ants or other pests.
  • Change Candy Corn Often: If you do use real candy corn, swap it out every couple of weeks to keep things fresh and clean.

How to Make a DIY Candy Corn Vase Candle Holder

Here’s how easy it is to create this festive candy corn candle holder!

Supplies needed:

  • Real or faux candy corn - here is the giant jug I used!
  • Large glass vase
  • Small glass vase
  • Battery-powered votive candle
  • Plastic sandwich bag (optional)

Steps to make it:

STEP 1: Pick the Right Vases

Just like the pine cone project, you need two vases that fit inside one another with at least an inch of space between them. This allows room for the candy corn to sit, without having to fill a whole big bowl.

Your outer vase should be at least 2 inches wider than the smaller vase to create that perfect layered look. For example, a 6" wide outer vase and a 3" wide inner glass work well - you want 1"+ of space all the way around.

STEP 2: Layer the Vases

Place the smaller glass inside the larger one, centered as best as possible.

If you’re worried about it falling into the inner vase, use a plastic sandwich bag to cover the inner vase temporarily.

STEP 3: Add the Candy Corn

Carefully pour the candy corn into the space between the two vases. Work your way around the vase to get an even layer of candy corn. Every so often, give the vase a gentle shake to help settle the candy and create a denser look.

STEP 4: Add the Candle

Remove the plastic bag (if used), and place the battery-powered votive candle in the inner vase. A real candle could melt the candy, so stick with battery-powered for this project.

STEP 5: Enjoy!

Display your candy corn candle holder on your dining table, mantel, or any cozy spot that could use a pop of fall charm.
