The Master Bedroom

Our condo’s master bedroom was a totally decent size, with one big window and a “walk thru closet” to the en suite bathroom.

When I first moved in, it was the same builder beige as the rest of my place:

Unfortunately, with painting the living room, I didn’t have time to paint the bedrooms before moving in. So, I just moved in all of my old furniture. As you can see, my previous apartment had a preppy pink pinstriped theme.

Then, we were able to paint. I chose Olympic One’s Flagstone from Lowe’s. It was a bit of a bold choice but I’m so glad I did!

I also took the opportunity of having to move all my furniture to paint to rearrange the bed’s placement so that we would have better access to the window.

Next, you can see, I simply changed out my bedding & rearranged some furniture:

Then I rearranged and got things looking a little more lived-in:

The geometric comforter is from Target. The walls are painted Flagstone (by Olympic). The closet curtains are from Urban Outfitters and the rope chandelier was a DIY. The mirror is a jewelry armoir from Pier 1.

The vanity is vintage and I can’t wait to refinish it! The tall light is from walmart. The curtains are no sew and the tutorial is here. The painted jars on the vanity were made using this technique. The bench under the window is from Home Goods but we added the legs.

Sean found this side table next to the dumpster and we refinished it here. I recovered the lamp and shade in this tutorial. The blue frame is Lilly Pulitzer. We made the spiral rope coasters here. The glass bowl is vintage and holds chapsticks. The cotton candy candle is from target (and smells like heaven.) The wooden bowl is vintage. The octopus is from One Kings Lane, and the books are miscellaneous hardbacks.

This is a framed painting of my college sorority house. The curtains are Urban Outfitters shower curtains. And here’s the tutorial for the peeking-out chandelier.

Then we added a grid gallery wall behind the tv:

I added a faux upholstered headboard to balance out that side of the room!

Then we replaced the TV dresser with a fun goodwill find that we gave a quick & easy makeover. We also covered the duvet with this cover from West Elm.

I added a sea glass collection to the bookshelf.

Here’s a recap of the things we did in the master bedroom:

Do you know what size diameter grommets and what size diameter curtain road you used? I like this look and would like to replicate!

Sean

I used 2 1/2 inch grommets with a standard sized rod. hope that helps!

How have the yellow curtains in your bedroom held up? I am planning on making curtains myself and am unsure what type of tape to use. Which tape has held up the best since hanging them up?

They held up great! That being said they don't get handled at all, they just hang there. Pillows made with the tape do not hold up. I really recommend sewing if possible.
