Every year (since becoming a member) I have participated in the Weddingbee blogger ornament exchange. Last year I made this silly felt “Devil Egg” for Mrs. Deviled Egg.
This year, I drew Mrs. Mink. Minks are pretty – but how the heck was I going to make a mink ornament? A google search found me these really cool fluffy mink fur balls on etsy. I ordered 8 each of white & grey and waited for them to arrive. Sean had the idea that I should use the balls to make a snowman wearing a “mink coat”.
To do that, I wanted to stack 3 white balls. However, they weren’t very stable on their own, so I hot glued them onto a small stick. I drilled a tiny hole in the top of the stick and strung my hanging ribbon loop through there.
I then added 2 stick arms (actual sticks I found outside) using hot glue.
Next, to make it a 2 sided ornament, I glued 3 more white balls on the back.
Now I added the grey balls to make my mink coat. This was silly but I thought that it was appropriate for Mrs. Mink.
Finally, I added the face. I colored the end of a toothpick orange and used that for the nose. The rest of the features were tiny glass beads from my collection, attached with hot glue.
I think that she turned out adorable. Obviously homemade, but that is kind of the point, in my mind. I hope she likes her new home!
Just for fun, here are the Coral ornaments that I have received:

Precious. Do you sell these? If so I'd love to buy one for my son who is a mink fan. Thank you.
