Happy Monday folks! We are in full-fledged DIY land here at the Charleston Crafted household, trying to make some good progress on our mini-master suite makeover before we head out to Minnesota for a wedding this weekend.
We are putting in the leg work by scraping and sanding the ceilings as well as painting everything so that we can do some more fun decorating type projects next week.
We will be back tomorrow with a full breakdown on the popcorn scraping process, but I have a spoiler alert for you – it’s messy. Very, very messy.
Even laying down tarps, we managed to get a ton of popcorn particles all over the floors.
While the shop vac is helpful for picking up some of the mess, the nature of the job (you spray the popcorn ceiling with water before scraping them, leading to almost a mud that dries on and sticks to the tile floors), you really need to scrub to get it clean.
For this tough mess, we chose ocelo™ No-Scratch Scrub Sponges. They are perfect for cleaning delicate surfaces without scratching.
Our bathrooms have brand new tile, so we really wanted to be sure to keep them in great shape.
The first step in cleaning up after a big dusty mess like this is to sweep or vacuum using a shop vac. However, that only gets up some of the mess.
To really clean the tile, we used the ocelo scrub sponges along with warm soapy water. The sponges allowed us to get up the stubborn messes without damaging our bathroom tile.
I also used the sponges to clean inside the tub and sink as well as along the top of the door and window frames. That drywall dust really gets everywhere!
ocelo no-scratch scrub sponges are available at Target.
How do you like to clean up big messes?

I do NOT envy you that task. Or the cleanup. But once it's done, I bet it will look great! #client
