Want to make your yard fun and funny for Halloween? Check out our Olympics Skeleton Yard Decor for Halloween idea!
If you know us, you know that we LOVE decorating for Halloween.
We decorate indoors and out, but especially love making our front yard magical. Ours is a big “golf cart neighborhood” with lots of families who cruise around and look at decorations.
Every year we choose a new theme for our skeletons and other accessories to act out.
This year, we are fresh off of the Paris Olympics. Our kids really loved watching the games, so we wanted to set up a Paranormal Olympics of our own in the yard!

Olympics Skeleton Yard Decor for Halloween
Here is our front yard decorated for Halloween with a skeleton olympics theme!
Front Yard
The main feature of our front yard decor are all of the skeletons posed to be doing olympic sports! You can read our best tips for posing skeletons, but it mostly comes down to rebar zip tied to the spine!
We set up skeletons:
- pole vaulting over our pumpkin inflatable
- break dancing (lol shout out Ray-Gunn)
- throwing baseballs from the palm trees
- the 12 foot skeleton lifting weights (potted plant drip trays strung onto a black pool noodle)
We also set up a dog skeleton track race. We spray painted lines on the grass and added a rope finish line!
We also built a quick and easy podium so we could have our medal finishers showing off their hardware!
Front Steps
We once again decorated the steps up to our front door with tons of plastic pumpkins. We strung string lights across so they glow!
We also used zip ties to attach our DIY Ball Spider to the sides of the stair railing!
Lower Porch
We wrapped our lower porch in orange lights and added a few skeletons – including one hanging from the gymnastics rings (the rings from our kids swing set haha).
Upper Porch
Our upper porch is wrapped in a DIY pumpkin pail light up garland and is home to our DIY PVC skeleton man! We also added orange string lights just for the vibes.
Garage Door
Our garage door is pretty prominent on the front of our house, so we had to decorate it!
Over the door, we hung a spook Olympic Rings symbol, to make the theme extra obvious. This was something Sean cut out of 1/4″ plywood with his laser cutter and painted.
We added an inflatable pumpkin stack on either side of the garage door.
On the door itself, we have our DIY magnetic spiders and bat magnets, which were my favorite new Halloween find this year – so easy!
We also strung across our old ghosts. Honestly, we’ve had these for almost a decade and they are looking pretty raggedy. This might be their last Halloween – RIP!
Side Yard
This year for the first time we set up more decor in our side yard, which is a super narrow strip between our driveway and the house next to ours.
We adding a mini skeleton on the kids basketball goal and a dog skeleton with the mini basketball in his mouth. We set up the balance beam and posed a skeleton tumbling down it.
And, we posed a skeleton playing golf with a doggie helper (and the flag from our kids bike trailer as the golf flag).
Additionally we set up our XL inflatable pumpkin man in the back here (it’s the only spot we had for him!) and added pumpkin solar lights along the driveway line to bring light, orange, and pumpkins over here!
