Wondering how to organize sports equipment? Here is how we organize our sports gear in a bench in our garage.
When I was a kid, my parents bought me a sports equipment storage bench that I used to store all my various balls, shoes, gear, sticks, pumps, etc. I kept it in my room and had easy access to anything I needed for the many sports I played.
Since then, this bench has followed me around from place to place everywhere I’ve lived. I took it to college and my roommates and I all stored our stuff in there. Then I lived on my own and continued to store my stuff. I don’t use all the equipment as often as I used to anymore though, because I don’t have the opportunity to play sports as much, but it still stores the things I have.
But recently, I needed to add some spare hubcaps for Morgan’s car to the bench and realized that I had a lot of stuff that I didn’t need anymore, so I decided to get rid of some stuff and make some room.
I started by taking everything out and dividing it into piles of stuff I wanted to keep in the bench, things that needed to be relocated, and things I would give away. I wanted to make sure I kept things like my basketball, baseball gear, tennis rackets and balls, etc. I didn’t need four free frisbees, a broken tripod, a bad piece of art, or 700 golf tees.
Then, I cleaned all the dust and dirt out and reloaded things in a more organized way.
Now the bench is much more organized and I can actually get to things that I need. I also know what is in there now so I don’t have to wonder or look. It’s a really great bench for kids to have to keep you from going insane with disorganization too. This is a great way to keep stuff all together.
