We love living so close to the beach and use our Charleston location as inspiration for tropical touches in our home. I have previously shared tutorials for a driftwood coffee table, a driftwood cupcake display for our wedding, and our driftwood Christmas tree topper, and now we are back with something new.
After those projects, we had a bit of driftwood leftover and wanted to use it up prior to our move, and so we were inspired to update a simple plant pot with some of the leftover driftwood. This is a super simple way to bring a little tropical into your home and is a really fast nautical DIY project.
Here are 44 easy DIY vase ideas!
DIY Driftwood Planter
Here’s how we did it:
I started with a small potted plant from the Home Depot. I also grabbed a simple pot – in this case I chose a glass canister but any pot will work. Just beware that if you use a non-clear or brown pot, you might want to paint it to a color similar to your wood if you don’t want the color showing between the sticks.
Sean sawed some pieces of driftwood the same height as the vase (about 3 inches).
Then, I simply hot glued them around the vase. I told you that it was easy! I love the tropical beachy vibe that it has – it really reminds me of the top of a pineapple. We currently have it on our side table but this could work in so many rooms!
Another way to bring a tropical feeling into your home year round is with Glade® products in the Hawaiian Breeze® scent. Our getaway begins with the scent of tropical pineapple, peach and melons. Hints of mango and red berry join the soothing aromas of warm beachwood and cream to really get the luau started. When cool ocean winds meet the scent of fragrant tropical fruits, pineapple, and plumeria, you won’t even have to leave the neighborhood to get lost in paradise.
We picked up three great products at our local Home Depot in the Air Freshener aisle.
